The Generations Jazz Orchestra

The Generations Jazz Orchestra is JAZZ Nation's premier, trade school-style program dedicated to developing the next generation of outstanding high school jazz musicians in the San Antonio area. This elite ensemble provides a focused, intensive environment for students to master America's unique art form under the guidance of top-tier professionals.

The Generations Jazz Orchestra is an immersive experience designed for serious, dedicated high school musicians.

• Elite Ensemble Experience: Join a select big band composed of the top young jazz talent from high schools across the San Antonio area.
• World-Class Instruction: Receive weekly coaching and mentorship from Karlos Elizondo and JAZZ Nation Staff, professional musicians and educators committed to preserving and advancing the art of jazz.
• Premier Performance Opportunities: Perform live at celebrated venues throughout the season, including the acclaimed Jazz, TX, Blue Star, Main Plaza, and local high schools.
• Professional Collaboration: Gain invaluable experience through guest artist collaborations, masterclasses, and studio recording opportunities.

Membership in the orchestra requires commitment to a full season of rehearsals and performances.

• Rehearsals: Weekly on Sunday Afternoons from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM at the MacArthur High School Band Hall (2923 MacArthur View, San Antonio, TX 78217).
• Eligibility: Students must be enrolled in their school’s band, orchestra, choir, or other music program.

Participation in the Generations Jazz Orchestra is tuition-based and covers the full season of instruction and events.

• Total Tuition: $400 for the entire season (This is a discounted rate; the Summer Institute alone normally costs $450).
