JAZZ Nation Summer Institute

Get ready for a one-of-a-kind musical experience at the JAZZ Nation Summer Institute — an immersive, week-long camp designed for middle and high school musicians who are passionate about jazz and eager to take their playing to the next level.

This program offers an inspiring environment where students can grow as musicians and performers.

Now accepting the following instrumentation:

• Trumpet
• Saxophone
• Trombone
• Rhythm section: Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums/Percussion

Note: Students must have at least one year of experience on their instrument. 

Whether you’re a seasoned player or just beginning to explore the world of jazz, the Summer Institute will challenge, inspire, and elevate your musicianship. Participants will:

• Perform in small jazz combos, big band, and jazz concert band
• Gain experience in both ensemble performance and solo playing
• Develop their skills through improvisation and theory classes
• Learn directly from top-call professional musicians and educators in dynamic masterclasses
• Perform in the live end-of-week concert for the community

• $400 per student
• No audition required — all levels welcome!
• Students receive a swag bag: water bottle, folder, pencil, and lanyard
• Limited spots available — reserve early to secure your place

The Experience: Students will receive instruction from San Antonio's first-call, professional jazz artists and educators. Our faculty offers in-depth knowledge that can only be learned on the bandstand — JAZZ Nation provides this one-of-a-kind experience to students seeking to excel in jazz performance.

The Institute culminates in a special live performance, where students showcase their growth and talent for family, friends, and the community in a celebration of their musical journey.
